Judge's arguments for and against Mary accused of the murder of Patrick

Judge's arguments for Mary being accused of the murder of Patrick...

  1. She commited a serious crime.
  2. She lied to the detectives.
  3. She used Sam as her alibi as a form of a backup.
  4. There was no good reason for her to murder Patrick.
  5. She was too impulsive when she carried out the murder.
  6. She lied to Sam even though he was innocent.
  7. She destroyed the evidence(leg of lamb as a form of a weapon)
  8. Patrick offered to give her alimony.

Judge's arguments against Mary being accused of the murder of Patrick...

  1. Patrick was at fault because he wanted a divorce with Mary.
  2. Mary is pregnant at that time, hence she carried out the murder probably due to depression.
  3. Mary was very devoted to her husband and was very upset when she realised that her husband was leaving her.
  4. The murder was unintentional.
  5. Mary was not conscious when the murder was carried out as what Patrick told her was probably a great blow to her.
  6. Patrick did not care for Mary's feelings as he should not have told her when she was pregnant.
  7. Mary had a mixture of feelings when she murdered Patrick but could not help it as she was too angry.
